Project Overview

The objective of this project is to create an entertaining, pirate-themed game for users of a
range of ages - from young children to adults. A figure will move up a series of ramps in an
upright box, jumping over steel cannonballs that are ejected from the vertical spiral conveyor. The
game will integrate mechanical, electrical, and software systems to respond to user input.

The core mechanical challenges include constructing the player-movement mechanism and the obstacle conveyor. The Raspberry Pi, a single-board computer, will be used to process sensory data and player input; it also will dictate commands to the servos within the mechanical systems and to the speakers in the electrical systems to respond accordingly. Major engineering tasks include constructing the frame and ramps, designing and implementing the mechanical systems, and programming the Raspberry Pi and connecting it to the appropriate sensors and components.

Finally, the visual effect will be created according to the pirate theme. The final deliverable will be an exciting, three-dimensional and physical game in which the user manipulates a pirate through simple
movement controls to avoid the cannonballs.
